Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for SAMH and hopefully this will gain awareness for mental health.
Sadly, at the beginning of the pandemic, Megan tried to take her own life. Suffering major brain injury Megan spent 7 weeks in the intensive care unit at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock. The family was told Megan may never walk or talk again.
However, Megan has since come out of the coma and was transferred to the Astley Aisnlie Hospital in Edinburgh- a rehabilitation centre specialising in brain injuries and neurological disorders.
While suffering some long term effects , including losing her eyesight, memory loss and restricted mobility , Megan is making positive progress, rebuilding her strength every day.
However in the past five months Megan has come on so far has started talking again and is able to have a conversation with family and friends, unfortunately her memory is still not back fully but she is working hard every day to regain it and is determined to get stronger for herself.
I want to help my best friend in any way i can, so i have started Megans Miles - a fundraising event taking place throughout march where myself and Megan’s friends and colleagues from CalMac Complete 126 miles through cycling , walking running etc.
Thanks for reading my story and i hope you can help me by donating to SAMH as it is a really great charity.
