We provide therapeutic pony riding lessons to improve the lives of disabled people

Story

The challenge: To get my 9 year old daughter to the top of Snowdon without reverting to the train. For those that do not know Megan she was born with a syndrome called CDLS which severely affects mental and physical development. She does not yet walk, talk or eat properly. This means that Dad (with the aid of a Martin, Lee, Carolyn, Lucy and Rosie) will be looking to get her to the summit in her buggy and her backpack carrier.

The Charity: The Gaddesden RDA who are dedicated to teaching disabled people to ride. Megan has been going for over a year now and thoroughly enjoys her time with Kiwi and all the lovely volunteers.  It is helping her with her balance and core strength.

The facts: the top of Snowdon is 1085m (3,560 feet) high, Megan whilst small for her age weighs in at 20kg, I am a (slightly) overweight and (very) unfit 46 years old.

When: we will be looking to complete the climb at some point in Sept/ Oct 2012 at the first opportunity that the weather and Megan’s mood allows, as an absolute last resort I will do the climb carrying the equivalent weight and with a recording of Megan’s ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaaahs’ ringing in my ears.
