Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am challenging myself to do a "Strictly" to fundraise for Cancer Research UK and I have roped Ekie in to help me. Join us in this challenge by either coming to watch us or donate, so together we can stand up to cancer.
The challenge will not be an easy task as I am not a natural mover, do not know my left or right instinctively, and being tone deaf and no co-ordination at all, that at school, I am always the one left on the sideline for school musical recitals and plays, or team sports, and shouted at by an impatient head teacher for getting the beat wrong. Boom, boom, BOOM! Bullied and traumatised from aged 8. I watched while everyone had fun on sports day, country dancing lessons, school events. No more standing on the sidelines!
Finally, as an adult, going to beat this demon and help Cancer Research at the same time!
It's all very well going to a club and bouncing on two feet, jiggling about, but it's a skill to dance with steps choreographed for you. I hope I will do the Waltz justice.
You may, like me, have had personal experience of cancer, through close family and close friends, and lives are changed forever. I first encountered how devastating this illness is, my best friend at college died from it, we were only 18. Broke my heart. Karen this is for you, miss you so much, and since then, over the years, many friends are in remission or taken from us.
Please come and watch us at the Ultra Ballroom Show on Sunday afternoon, 26 November 2017, if you can.
