Walk for Matt is an 110 mile walk from Rugby to Twickenham down the Grand Union Canal to raise money for the Matt Hampson Foundation.  It begins on 18 May 2013 and finishes at Twickenham Stadium on 25 May at the Premiership Final.

Why am I so keen to help the Matt Hampson Foundation?  I have a sixteen year old son who plays rugby for Chesterfield Rugby Club and, in 2012, he was spear tackled in a "friendly".  I watched Ricky rushed by ambulance to hospital and those few hours waiting for x-ray results are nerve wracking to say the least! 

Ricky is absolutely fine and he hasn't given up on rugby.  One day he'd love to play for the Leicester Tigers or even internationally for either England or the US (he's half and half).

But it really drove home the fact that a serious injury could happen to Ricky or any other child who participates in sports.

I've met Hambo as well as reading his book "Engage". What an inspiration!
