Uganda Project 2014 · 26 July 2014

Improving quality of life through education. We work at a grassroots level with communities in Uganda across three core areas: alternative education, livelihoods and school infrastructure. We work to empower communities to be eco-friendly, self-sufficient and responsible for their futures.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

In July 2014 I will be travelling out to the Masindi district in rural Uganda on a 4 week long community project  where we will be rennovating school facilities to support the charity Soft Power Education.

The charity is based in Uganda and works with local communities to improve the quality of life through education, something which we often take for granted in the West.

All the money I will raise will go directly to the charity to provide the building materials and allow for the improvement of a much needed suitable educational environment. This is what your money can buy:

  • £2.50 will buy 100 bricks
  • £5 will buy a shovel or four litres of paint
  • £10 will pay the wage of a tradesman for one week
  • £20 will provide six tonnes of building sand
  • £40 will buy a load (8 tonnes) of lake sand or building aggregate
  • £50 will buy a 1,000 litre water catchment tank
  • £100 will pay three teachers’ wages at one of SPE’s preschools
  • £1,000 (well let’s not be shy) will refurbish a two classroom primary school block

I am aiming to raise £600 to help make a difference.

I would be extremely grateful for your support, don't forget to tick the 'Gift Aid' option if you're a UK taxpayer!

Thank you :)
