Story
Fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling because of this huge reduction in income.
On Sunday 26th April, I pledge to complete 260 minutes (that's 4 hours and 20 minutes!) of Qi Gong practice, which is an ancient Chinese mind-body form of mindful exercise. This is in support of a brilliant charity with 20 years' experience in acute medical settings. They are Full Circle Fund Therapies, for whom I've had the honour of working since July 2016, and in particular I'm supporting their fundraising appeal, "Connecting Reiki with Medicine".
Full Circle provides evidence-based, supportive therapies to very sick adults, children and babies and I'm part of their awesome team at St George's Hospital in Tooting, SW London. We treat patients with blood diseases such as leukaemia, lymphoma and sickle cell, as well as solid tumour cancers and we also work in critical settings including ICU. Whilst undergoing medical treatment for life-threatening diagnoses, our supportive therapies aim to provide a counterbalance that keeps a person feeling human. We also offer treatments to support NHS staff through stressful times.
