Live Unlimited is a small local charity in Barnet that provides access to hobbies, training & learning opportunities, sports & leisure activities for children in care and young care leavers in the borough.

The charity’s aim is for every care experienced young person in the borough to feel they can pursue interests outside of school, college or work just as their peers do, helping them to acquire new skills, feel more self-confident, improve their health & well-being, meet new people & develop new pathways into education and/or employment. 

They do this is by buying the equipment or items the young person needs to pursue an interest, such as the camera, the trumpet, the bike, the athletics club fees or the sewing machine. It also supports young care leavers with employment opportunities, by buying the tools or chefs knives they may need for an apprenticeship, or the specialist software they may need for their uni course. Without our intervention these young people are unable to take up these opportunities.

Live Unlimited also offers a scheme called Driving Ahead, a package of 30 driving lessons & the practical test for care leavers, which can be a game changer for these disadvantaged young people, improving confidence and job prospects, and reducing social isolation. Care leavers rarely learn to drive because they can’t afford the lessons and they don’t have a family car to practice in.
