Story

My name is Melissa Gray and I have been lucky enough to be selected to represent the UK at the World Scout Jamboree 2023 in South Korea. I will be going with 35 other Explorer Scouts from East Scotland, to join over 40,000 other young people and leaders from 170 countries. We will share culture, experience, and friendship and put a concrete global citizenship into practice. The focus will be based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

I have been involved in Scouting, since I was 10. I love Scouting because of the many opportunities and challenges it offers. Scouting enables me to both develop my independence and team working skills. I love taking part in the many outdoor activities we do. Scouting has given me the chance to meet lots of new people and to try new things, and it allows me to make a worthwhile contribution to our local community.

When I go to South Korea I hope to develop as a person. I hope to make lots of new friends and to learn about different cultures all across the world. I am excited for the many activities we will do and to see a completely different part of the world.

To help raise the final amount of money I need to be able to go to South Korea, I will be taking part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk on Sunday 30th April, walking 22.7 miles in The Mighty Stride. I would be very grateful if you were able to make a donation to help me reach my fundraising target!

Thank you for reading and thank you for your support.
