On July 1st 2014 Joe my husband and Daddy to Maisie, Archie, Ted and Bertie was involved in a gas explosion on our farm. Joe sustained 38% full thickness burns to his body. He was initially taken straight to The John Radcliffe however it was quickly realised that he needed specialist treatment at a Burns Unit. Joe was sent to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London where he spent some time in an induced coma to aid his recovery. It is no secret to all close to us and our dear family that there were some very dark days during Joseph's stay at Chelsea and Westminster and at one point we really didn't know if he would be coming home to us. However following extensive surgery and a 'very long sleep' Joe woke up! Amazingly having been told that if we were lucky Joe would be home by Christmas he was out of hospital just over one month later!!! This is down to the wonderful care provided by the Burn's Unit and their fantastic team. We will be forever grateful for everything they did for Joe and us as a family not only at the time but the years of after care Joe received. The money raised will be donated directly to The Burn's Unit. I know i go on and on about how brilliant these guy's were but..... honestly they were simply fabulous! Please dig deep, the smallest amount makes such a difference and will help spur Vicki and i on during our 100k Cotswold Way Challenge! Thank you all for your support! xxxxxxxxxxx
