Story
On the 9th August 2018, my amazing grandad lost a long and tough battle with dementia. Every time I come across the photos of him at his worst time, I quickly scroll past as it breaks my heart to see how he deteriorated so quickly. At the same time, the pictures remind me that I must do something to help the amazing charity that once supported my granny (as his carer) and grandad through a very difficult time.
In his memory and to support other individuals and families struggling a similar battle, I have decided to do something I told myself I’d never do and take the plunge to complete a 10,000ft charity sky dive raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The dive will take place on Sunday 15th March 2020 giving me time to raise the minimum fundraising target of £430. I have decided to do the jump in Grange-over-Sands, a lovely little town in Cumbria where I spent a lot of my childhood holidays, making memories with my grandma and grandad - I’ll be hoping grandad will be cheering me on whilst also telling me how stupid I am for making this decision 🤣🤞🏽
About the fantastic charity I am raising for: The Alzheimer’s Society are a charity who fight for the rights of everyone affected by dementia. They raise awareness, pushing for a more dementia-friendly society so that people living with the condition can live without fear and prejudice. The charity are currently the only UK charity investing in research into dementia cause, care, cure and prevention.
Supporting me in my big leap will help the charity make even greater progress towards their vision of a world without dementia. Please dig deep! Thank you!!
