Story
My grandad was diagnosed with dementia last summer. He and our whole family went through a traumatic experience which impacted us in ways we didn't expect. But we were able to get my grandad, and my grandma, the help they needed at the time.
Whilst finding the support my grandad needs is still ongoing, and he resides in a secure unit due to lack of space and resources in our community, my grandad always taught me 'don't worry, be happy'.
So I'm walking for him to raise money for Alzheimer's Society to do my part in helping him with his diagnosis, and to raise awareness for dementia care to support people with dementia and their families.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted.
