Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Every pound donated through my page will be doubled by my employer, Microsoft Ltd.

We're raising money for Christian Aid who works with 475 trusted grass-roots partner organisations in 37 of the world’s poorest countries to provide things we take for granted – food and water, medical treatment, education and so on.  And perhaps the most important thing that should be included on this list is a safe place to call home.  Because of wars, persecution, famine or other crises, at least 60 million people have been forced to leave their homes in recent years.

Haiti is one of the countries where Christian Aid has been active for decades. Apart from being very poor and having a terrible historical legacy of slavery, debt and dictatorship, Haiti has also been regularly hit by natural disasters, most recently a major earthquake in 2010 and Hurricane Matthew in 2016 which destroyed thousands of homes. Some examples of what your sponsor money could buy there are:

  • £210 is enough for two days’ training for a
local builder in the construction of safe, comfortable homes.
  • £50 could buy basic building tools.
  • £25 could buy a hygiene kit to prevent the
spread of disease after a disaster.
  • £5 could buy a jar of seeds to grow beans to
    feed a family.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
