On the 25th July, a group of 6 Mercian Officers and SNCOs will set out, lycra clad, from John O'Groats on a 936mi journey to Land's End in just 8 days. 

The aim of the exercise is to raise £3,000 for the Mercian Benevolent Fund.The Fund provides relief, either generally or individually, to past and present members of the Mercian Regiment (including antecedent regiments) and the dependents when they find themselves in conditions of need, hardship or distress.

The Fund not only looks after those individuals and families that suffered life changing circumstances due to their service, but it also helps look after the day-day issues that come about from a career serving our country. 

Both Battalions are currently deployed overseas with The 2nd Battalion currently in Iraq and South Sudan and The 1st Battalion in Canada. It is at times like this that the support the Mercian Benevolent Fund provides, is invaluable in supporting and looking after the families.
