Our idea to cycle from "end to end" stemmed from Val's idea that it was time she got to know England a little bit better! Merv who is exiled from the south of England to central Scotland thought that he could catch up with some of his family and friends who he hasn't seen as often as he would have liked. Both of us thought that we could link up the friends and family by visiting SERVAS members along the way. It has been an indication that many of our friends lead  busy and interesting lives as some have not been available on the date we would have visited them.

Once the idea to cycle was decided on we thought we should raise some money for our favourite charities. Although we have had previous cycling trips we have not gone down this route before. We are both strong supporters of "Freedom from Torture" and "MacMillan Cancer Support".
