What your donations will be used for: To provide a new Isolation Pen because we often have an animal in our care that needs to be kept isolation while it recovers from contagious conditions such as mange. One such recent case was a tiny Jack Russell puppy. She had given up the will to live - tortured and worn out with the constant scratching due to mange, the freezing cold weather had used up the last of her energy trying to keep warm. However, after two months treatment of weekly baths in our current makeshift isolation facilities, life slowly became worth living again in a new, loving home. Also, with our current facilities, cases like the Jack Russell puppy cause us real problems as all our pens are of wooden construction. This makes them very difficult to "deep clean" after they have had an animal with a contagious condition staying in them. Currently, to sterilise a pen after it has had an isolation case in it, we have to blow torch the woodwork, disinfect the pen and then repaint it. Not only is this costly, it also takes a lot of time and effort and means that this much-needed accommodation can be unavailable for at least a week. At the busiest times of the year, we regularly have over 70 animals in our care and are quite often opening over 400 tins of pet food a day! This means that our pens are full and quite often there is no additional capacity. A new Isolation Pen will cost around £2,000 and the more money we raise will help the RSPCA to help more sick animals. So, come on animal lovers, help us to raise enough money to fund a new Isolation Pen. YOU KNOW WE CAN DO IT!
