Meera's Walk The Tube

YoungMinds is the UK's leading charity supporting the wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. YoungMinds creates change so that children and young people can get through difficulties and find help when needed.
In February I will be completing the Walk The Tube Challenge. The Walk The Tube Challenge is a challenge where you visit all the stations on the London underground in one day. People do this challenge, trying to beat the gunnies world record; although I will be timing how long it takes for me to complete this challenge, I will not be trying to beat the gunnies world record.
I have chosen to raise money for YoungMinds because it is such an important cause for me and I would like to give something back so that other children and young people can get vital support which I was fortunate enough to receive.
Big charities are mostly given the biggest spotlight, which is not a bad thing. However because of this, other illnesses which can be just as fatal over time, often get neglected.
YoungMinds work matter:
1 in 10 children and young people, aged 5-16, suffer from a diagnosable mental health problem such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. That's around 3 children in every classroom.
3/4 of long-lasting mental ill health starts before the age of 18.
Early intervention is vital to improve young people's health and to prevent children from suffering from further disadvantages, including bullying, isolation and problems at school. With good mental health, children and young people do better in every way.
