Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2012 I was diagnosed with PBC and like many others, I hadn't even heard of this condition and we were devastated with the news.
Fortunately, I found The PBC Foundation and me and my family were given the support and accurate information about PBC and I realised I was not the only person with this condition.
I am now part of the team at The Foundation and we support our registered service users by delivering our Self-Management Workshops around the country, attending Healthcare Professionals Exhibitions and events to highlight and raise awareness of PBC and provide a confidential Helpline Service. The Foundation provides this vital support completely free of charge to their registered service users and without donations, grants and fundraising, these services would be limited.
The Foundation is celebrating it's 20th birthday this year and to mark each year of it's existence and some of the life changing achievements made on behalf of the Patient's Voice, I plan to walk a mile for every year on 11th September which is a poignant date as it happens to be International PBC Day 2016.I am starting in Gullane and following the route of the John Muir Way and ending 20 miles later in Holyrood Park. This is going to be a huge challenge for me as a I suffer from chronic fatigue, itching of the skin and joint pain, symptoms many with PBC experience.
My aim is to raise as much money as possible and raise awareness of this progressive, autoimmune liver disease so please support me in this challenge.
Thank you
