Story
If you know me well, you’ll understand just how far outside my comfort zone this is. Perhaps it’s the inevitable early-twenties reckoning that inspired it, or maybe just a moment of clarity? Either way, here we are. In September 2025, I made a genuine commitment to improving my health. What began as consistent weekly weight training gradually evolved into something I never ever thought myself doing: running, encouraged, of course, by a healthy dose of “supportive persuasion” from friends.
I knew that if I was going to take running seriously, I needed a clear goal. Without something to work towards, my commitment never would’ve stayed. That’s when I was “persuaded” into the Edinburgh Half Marathon.
As a paramedic in Aberdeen working alongside Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance, I’ve witnessed first-hand the extraordinary impact they have on pre-hospital care. As well as having a family member who required their care in rural countryside. Their ability to reach critically unwell or injured patients quickly and transport them to definitive care far faster than road alone would allow is nothing short of lifesaving. As they are charity, their work depends on public generosity, and continued support truly makes a difference. So it felt like the right cause to run for. Thank you sincerely for any support you’re able to give. And I look forward to seeing you in May when I’ll very likely be questioning all of my life choices somewhere around mile ten!
