Fight to open Wandi Nerida

Mia Findlay is raising money for Butterfly Foundation

WMDN fundraise for Wandi Nerida · 28 February 2021

As a severely misunderstood mental illness, eating disorders need the power of the people. And right now, Butterfly needs you to join our fight to open the doors of Wandi Nerida, Australia's first residential facility for eating disorders.

Story

There’s a reason I stuck around to advocate after I recovered. Because I believed that I could pay forward what I’d been lucky enough to receive - help. I’ve received so much support from this community and foundations like @thebutterflyfoundation I wanted to give what I could to other people in this fight. I know we are a community of people who show up for each other. We need to show up for each other now.

Wandi Nerida, Australia’s first residential facility, cannot open its doors. It’s ready to go, ready to save lives, but due to a shortfall in funding that may not happen. We desperately need this facility in this country. And if we show what is possible here, we can show governments in other parts of the world what is possible for them too.

Over a million Aussies are suffering. 5 people are losing their lives to eating disorders every day. Once upon a time, I was almost one of them. Without help, I would have been.

So I’ll be giving $1000 of my own money during February and signing the petition so I can pay that support forward.

If any of my videos or words have ever helped you, I would be so grateful if you could donate to this fight. We can make real and tangible change in a space where that can feel impossible at times.

This is not impossible.

We can do this.

Please join us.
