From Mia: 5 years ago my Nan was diagnosed with bowel cancer. It was an awful time and we were all very scared. One of the scariest parts for my Nan was starting chemotherapy, but she did not need to worry as the wonderful nurses in the Sunflower Suite looked after her. They put her at ease and explained everything to her. They made sure that she was comfortable and not afraid. The volunteers in Sunflower Suite brought her and my Grandad tea, coffee, biscuits and sandwiches. I even went with my Nan on some occasions and was made to feel very welcome. My Nan made friends with the nurses as she saw them so often, whether it was for a blood test, blood transfusion or chemotherapy she always received the same warm welcome from the moment she stepped through the door. My Nan completed well over 60 rounds of chemotherapy, but unfortunately didn't get to ring the "Chemo Bell" as she passed away on 13th June, 2020. 

I miss her so much every day and I would like to raise money for The Sunflower Suite as a way of saying thank you for everything that they did to help our family during such a traumatic time. 

Update from Mia's mum (Hannah): Mia has smashed her initial target of £250 to virtually climb Ben Nevis. This means that Mount Blanc is now the target Mountain and Mia is in training to climb 2,340 times up our stairs. She will start her virtual ascent on Friday 3rd July. 

Update 2: Mia conquered Ben Nevis on 13th July and smashed Mount Blanc on 23rd August 2020. 

Update 3: £2,000 raised and, as promised, Mia is tackling Mount Everest at 4,467 ups. Eek! She'll pass Kilimanjaro on the way at 2,976 ups!

I am going to virtually climb Ben Nevis using my stairs at home. This is a whopping 678 times up my stairs! If I raise more than my initial target of £250 I will challenge myself even further and continue to climb to the virtual peak of Mount Blanc in France. This is a grand total of 2,340 times up my stairs and I think that's worth at least another £250! It would be amazing if I could get £1 for every stair climbed.
