I don't normally do this sort of thing (or ask people for donations) but this is a cause close to my heart and one that not enough people know about or support.
I'm trekking the Simien mountains in Ethiopia (11 hours a day at 4,500M) as part of a team to raise funds for UNICEF's work supporting vulnerable children in Bangladesh.
When I was in Bangladesh last year I saw children as young as two locked up in the most foul, overcrowded child jails with teenage murderers - they are only there because the police have nowhere else to put them, and nobody is coming to get them. They have no access to education or even basic toys to play with. They are abused and they essentially have no hope of a positive future. Children in Bangladesh are also often incarcerated with adults - a truly terrible option.
UNICEF supports local communities to provide an alternative - establishing local child protection committees that set up safe, supportive, nurturing environments for Bangladeshi children. Children come together to play and learn in a safe environment - essentially enabling them to have a childhood.
There are over a million homeless kids so the scale of the challenge is enormous.
If you are able to make a donation it will help transform the lives of Children in Bangladesh. All of the money I raise is going straight to UNICEF in Bangladesh.
