Birmingham Half Marathon · 10 June 2009

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

As many of you will know my niece, Poppy Guilder, was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was just 14 months old.  Since her diagnosis Poppy has received treatment at Birmingham Childrens Hospital.  As a thank you to the hospital for the fantastic level of care Poppy has received my sister and brother-in-law set up the charity "Poppy Fields".  So far they have raised over £90,000 for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

On the 11th October 2009 myself and a friend of mine, Andrew Heath, will be taking part in the EDF Birmingham Half Marathon.  This will be the first time either of us has taken part in this type of event.  I have only ever completed a 3 mile race before, so I will have to do some serious training for this one, but I am determined to do this for Poppy.

Please sponsor me, even if it is only a small amount as every penny counts!  Your support is greatly appreciated.
