Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My dad, Michael Walker, died on September 27th 2018 at 17:00 surrounded by his immediate family. He had suffered with squamous cell carcinoma since 2013 and had known for many months that his disease was ultimately incurable. During his final days, my dad and the whole family were supported by exceptional community nursing, including the NHS District Nurses and the Marie Curie nurses who helped us during the often difficult nights.
In addition to his career at Racal Research and then at Vodafone, as Director of Research & Development, my dad had an academic career as Professor at Royal Holloway College and Kings College London. Research and technology innovation was at the heart of his professional life. We therefore see it as fitting that we ask for donations to support Marie Curie, a leading supporter both of end of life nursing care and of research to improve care for the terminally ill.
