Story

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page, I am volunteering with VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas).

I found out about the VSO Organisation in the second year of my university degree, whilst I was constantly searching for jobs and career prospects. This search almost became one of self-discovery.

On finding the VSO website I was instantly intrigued and knew it was something I would have to do at some point in my life. It was almost like my perfect job description. Soon after graduation this thought continued and I found out about the VSO ICS programme.

The ICS programme gives young people aged 18-25 a chance to volunteer without needing much experience, only the right character and attitude. I applied and was invited to an assessment day.

Programmes such as the ICS are beneficial to communities in the UK by providing younger people with a platform to gain experience. It can open their minds to positive ways of thinking and help to improve their own future.

I was overwhelmed to find out I was successfully accepted to become a volunteer and have been given a place on a project in Kenya. The project is part of the National Volunteering (NV) programme. The main aim of the NV program in Kenya is to enable Kenyan citizens to achieve their right to participate in the local and national development, thereby improving their quality of life.

As part of my project I have set out to do fundraising for the cause and will be Jogging 10 laps of the Emirates Stadium (6.4K)on the 11th April 2013.

The money raised will go towards the success and continuation of the great work done by VSO: sending skilled and professional people across the world to help in a real way with the ongoing fight against poverty.

I would truly appreciate any amount you could donate towards this cause. I assure you I am passionate about this opportunity to be able to give first hand help to people less fortunate than myself. Your donations are going towards a rewarding cause. I will put all my effort into this project and do my utmost to make a positive difference.

JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
