Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm doing the Eastbourne half-ironman in aid of EyeCan.
EyeCan works with sight impaired Islanders in Jersey and offers services and support to all age groups with the aim of empowering visually impaired islanders to live more independently with their sight loss. During University I worked as an assistant to a visually impaired fellow law student (who is now a practising lawyer) so I have witnessed first-hand the importance of working with, rather than just for, people living with a visual impairment.
EyeCan also provides vouchers to all Island children under the age of 8 to cover up to £90 towards the cost of prescription spectacles. As a lifelong glasses wearer this particularly resonates with me as it's no exaggeration to say that I would be unable to function without my Gregory Pecks. The work EyeCan do in supporting children to develop their abilities and interests without experiencing the frustrations of poor sight is absolutely vital.
The half-ironman is going to be a real challenge but I'm hopeful I can get it done in under 7 hours!
