At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Unfortunately in October 2020, I lost my best friend to Dementia after a long hard battle spanning over 5 years.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

With a renewed passion for running (much due to Lockdown) and with all events postponed for the foreseeable future, as soon as I read about the Goggins 4x4x48 challenge that can be done individually, safely and tracked on Strava, I had to contact Alzheimers UK and sign up!

The challenge starts 4am Saturday 6th March and will be running 4 miles (6.4km) repeating this every 4 hours, 8am, midday, 4pm all the way through to midnight Sunday to complete the 12th and final 4 mile run.

Total Distance 48 Miles (77.5km) in 2 days.

I hope the 'small' amount we can raise together can go towards finding a cure in saving those 'big' memories for Dementia victims and all the family & friends it causes devastation too as well.

Thanks for your support.
