Right now, millions of children are in danger. They face violence, disease, hunger and the chaos of war and disaster. Unicef ensures more children get life-saving food, vaccinations, education and protection than anyone else. With your help, we can build a safer world for children. unicef.org.uk

Story

On Wednesday 6 April 2016 I will set out from Buenos Aires on a 3000 km/ 1850 miile four month solo-walk supported by my wife Xuelin who goes ahead to plan the way and stays behind to pay the bills.

The purpose of the walk is twofold: First to raise awareness for the UN General Assembly resolution declaring the Olympic truce for the period of the Olympic & Paralympic Games; Second, to raise funds for Unicef's work with Children in Danger.

This is not our first walk for peace but our fifth since 2012 so far we have walked through 19 countries and raised over £200,000 for charity.

The start date of 6 April and start point of Buenos Aires are important because it is the International Day of Sport for Development & Peace and Buenos Aires is the host city for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

The end date  of 29 July in Rio de Janeiro is important because it is the start date of the 2016 UN Olympic truce & as Xuelin and I were married on the day the Olympic truce came into force for the London 2012 Games, it is also our wedding anniversary.
