Story
On Saturday 9th September I am taking part for my second ever time in a triathlon in Saundersfoot, when I will be required to swim (doggy paddle for me), cycle (I'm not bad on the bike) and run (I absolutely cannot run)!
Last year my biggest worry was not being able to find my bike from the several hundred that were lined up in the transition area. I needn't have worried however, as being as the swim took me so long, mine was the only one left when I eventually staggered out of the sea!!
I made up a bit during the cycling but when it came to the final event of running, I was overtaken by another member of the 'vintage veteran' category, a lady in her 80's who shuffled past me muttering 'loser' under her breath!
I have been training for the last couple of weeks with a friend, Sarah Whiddett and together we have been braving the sea (and the jelly fish) so that I could perfect my doggy paddle style so that this time, I hope I might be second from last out of the sea and better my time if only by a minute or two!! Special mention to Sarah's husband, Steve and my Sara for keeping a watch on us, together with the RNLI from the beach!
I have chosen the British Heart Foundation charity as my Dad died far too young of a heart attack.
