Jessica's Big Red Tea Party

Big Red Tea Party · 17 September 2018
As many of you know, Jessica and I got married 12 weeks ago. We spent 2 amazing weeks in Mauritius and got settled into married life pretty quick. Only 5 weeks after the wedding we discovered that we were expecting our first child. We were thrilled as this is what we’ve always wanted. Jess had been feeling extremely tired and run down with a chest infection that had lasted several weeks. We went to the GP to have our baby booking bloods done, when only a matter of hours later Jess was being admitted to A&E with low haemoglobin, low
platelets and high white cells. Jess had been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. We were devastated. We were told we needed to put jessica first infront of the baby as both wouldn't survive which was the hardest decision ever. It has been 4 weeks now since the diagnosis of AML and she is battling through her chemo like the warrior she is. Had it not have been for the knowledge and expertise of the Drs, nurses and scientists at Altnagelvin and Belfast City Hospital we could have been looking at a very different story. So for that, we are forever grateful. As a small gesture of thanks, we are holding a tea party at Gwyns Cafe, Brooke Park, on the 17th September 3-6pm. We hope to raise some
money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI to help progress research into AML. Please feel free to join us for some tea and cakes. Look forward to seeing you all
there. M&J x
