Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.  Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

I am taking on a massive challenge to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.   All of the money collected will go direct to Alzheimer's Society as the cost of the trip is self funded - the really tough bit though is that we start in Biarritz on the west coast of France close to the Spanish boarder and cycle 424 miles and climb 46,500 ft up those winding Pyrenean roads (yup - that's one and a half times the height of Everest) to end up, having started at the Atlantic Ocean, on the east cost of France in Perpignan and dipping our toes in the Mediterranean Sea - all in just 5 days !

This is an Epic Adventure and massively more than anything I've ever taken on before. Training started in the middle of January when I found out I was able to join the European Wanderers Charity Bike Ride Team on this wonderful challenge to raise much needed money for the Alzheimer's Society.  Since mid-January I have cycled more than ever before and a couple of weeks ago completed a 100 mile bike ride around the Peak District climbing 10,000ft of hills as part of my preparation - it's been quite a journey but one I have really enjoyed - even at the tender age of 51 it's amazing how quickly the body responds to some serious exercise.

Since I started training in January I've ridden just over 2,000 miles in 120hrs of training - I hope I'm ready ! !
