Story
We (Michael Johnson, Andy McCabe, Dean Edwards & Andrew Todhunter, Support vehicle James Attle) are cycling the Coast and Castles route 200 miles over 3 days in May raising money for the Simon Bates Foundation. Simon Bates was the cousin of Andy McCabe and was killed whilst descending Mont Blanc in September 2013. Simon was a builder by trade and passionate about sharing his knowledge with others, the Simon Bates Foundation was set up in his memory and aims to support charities and projects that promote self-empowerment and community development. In 2015 the Simon Bates Foundation are raising funds to support a community in Katuba, Zambia in partnership with a charity called Build It International. Their aim is to raise £45,000 which will pay for the construction of a new purpose built classroom for the community and also provide ten building apprenticeships for young people from the local area. The Simon Bates Foundation have also provided a range of financial support to charities based in North East England, for further information please visit www.simonbatesfoundation.com or our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SimonBatesFoundation
