The date is finally here all packed and ready for the 1230 Bus to Heathrow and the 13 hour flight at 2240 this evening. Catching up with some of the team that I completed the Freedom Trail with a year or so ago.On 6th September I begin the biggest challenge for me so far. I will be walking the Inca Tail through the Peruvian Andes in South America. Trekking through valleys and high passes on Inca paved paths and steps through cloudforest to the demanding Dead Woman's Pass (4200m). Continually climbing and dropping down on the way. The route will be steep and the high altitude adds to the challenge. The trek finally comes to the Sun Gate, which overlooks Machu Picchu. Following this I will be travelling down the Amazon for 3 days.

I am financing the cost of this challenge myself, circa £3K, including the cost of vaccinations and malaria medication.  

Whilst doing this challenge I aim to raise funds to support the newly formed Friends of the Royal British Legion Band of Wales (registered charity number 1183105). 

The Royal British Legion Band of Wales needs vital financial support to allow it to perform in support of its aims and objectives. It does not receive any funds from the British Legion and looks to the Friends of the Royal British Legion for help. 

Why are funds needed ? The question I asked when setting up the Band.  Here are some of the reasons, public liability and employers insurance (even for volunteers), music needs to be purchased because of copyright, the purchase of certain instruments for example a set of Timpani Drums as a basic set between £3 & 4K.
