NYD Marathon · 1 January 2021
2020 has been nuts. For me, an unexpected upside of the Pandemic has been a new found interest in long-distance running.
Pounding the pavements around London over the last 9 months has provided me with a great deal of mental health support, rekindled my appreciation of this magnificent city and unfortunately left me with some severely chafed nipples.
Nonetheless, despite the chafing, the positive impact on my life has been immense and I aim to broaden that positive influence on New Year's Day 2021 by running my first Marathon.
I am running for FareShare and I would love your support.
FareShare fights hunger in the UK by redistributing good food to almost 11,000 frontline charities nationwide. I particularly like the environmental angle as they redirect perfectly good quality, surplus food from industry that would otherwise have gone to waste. They feed almost a million people a week but there's an urgent need to do more - which has been exacerbated by COVID-19.
Barclays is helping to tackle hunger in communities around the world by double matching colleague donations to food charities in December and January, as part of its £100m COVID-19 Community Aid Package.
This means they will triple the impact of your contribution – for example, for every £10 that you donate, Barclays will match an additional £20, totaling £30 to FareShare.
For context that £30 goes a long way - buying 120 meals for people in need.
2020 has been tough on everyone and I am conscious of the time of year - so please only give if you can.
Here's to starting 2021 on the right foot!
