Remembering Matt Rieley · 10 July 2016

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Hi everybody .

First , thank you all for your support . Who is Anna ? . A great donation , no message , and I would love to know who you are .

Finished the second marathon on Sunday , really hard going .

We will do the next marathon in the New Forest , in a couple of weeks time .

Plan to do the last leg , finishing at Bewl Water on the 10th September .

If anyone wants further details of the walks , please e-mail me at

michael@harshagebauer.co.uk

Thank's again to all .

Please see below reasons for the walk .

When we decided to do the our walk's , I had to ask my doctor if he felt this was possible . Well , at least he had a good laugh . When I asked what was funny , he said the 100 broken bones you've had , no knee cartilages , no exercise for 25 years , yes it's funny . Anyway , doctor's,told me I wouldn't walk at all from the age of 60 , 10 years later w're looking at 4 marathons !!.

So , why are we doing this .  The inspiration came from a young man , Matt Rieley .  At one of our fund raising events , Matt , who had cancer and was being treated through TCT , did an amazing speech . He made us laugh , cry and understand what he was going through . We had a great time with him , and he danced with , and enchanted everybody there .

We drank a bit too much , and then he told me he had to go back to hospital that week , and have serious treatment . I listened to this young guy , and thought I could never be that brave . Everybody at the event was absolutely amazed at him . Matt was 17 then , he passed away in May . Aged 19 .

We went to his funeral , I find it difficult to talk about this , but his family , dad Daniel , mum Sheila and bother Liam , and all his friends , were just incredible . Shed quite a few tears over this .

The incredible thing , I only met Matt once . But what an impact , I will never forget him , and will try to stay inspired by him as long as possible .

So many of our friends have supported our journey with TCT . We've done well , it's never enough , but really you have all been 'stars ' .

This doesn't stop though , so many young people with the cancer , as Matt had . So many lives lost , but so many happy endings and great stories -- you've all helped with this .

TCT supports approx half the teenagers with cancer, we need to be able to help every one of them .

As I have rambled long enough , I would just like to say thank you , all of you , and ask , if possible , you donate towards our marathons
