Story
After years of telling myself a marathon is too far and I am not interested in running one, halves are good enough. Last October I found myself listening to reports of the London Marathon taking place and suddenly considering it.
I jumped on the website and was in luck the ballot was open.
"Great! I will have a year to train."
"This could be fun and anyway people don't get in on their first attempt so this will probably be a distant memory by Christmas."
"Oh.. they are moving the date back to April so only 6 months to prepare..."
"Okay well as I won't actually get in there's no need to panic"
Perfect I was in the Ballot.....
SO funny story, You can get in on your first attempt at the Ballot! Time to Panic!!
I have a self funded spot to run the London Marathon.
I have chosen to run the event in memory of my Dad who died 17th April 2022 or 53 weeks before the event.
Dad and our family were supported by the Hospice of St Francis (Berkhamsted), community nurse came to us to help keep Dad at home while he was Ill. Their support was free and invaluable. If Dad had been in hospital the visiting hour would have limited our access to him and diminished his final weeks. The hospice staff allowed us to keep him comfortable and accompanied at all times. We are forever grateful.
