Story
Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page.
I've taken part in the Windsurfing 4 Cancer Research fundraising events for a number of years now - in fact, pretty much every year since Mum died of Ovarian Cancer in 2008.
Friends have done some amazing things for the charity - most memorable was Kathy and Jo circumnavigating Windermere on windsurfing boards between dawn and dusk! I spent an afternoon zig-zagging across the lake, doing as many widths as possible!
I've not yet finalised what our own event will look like, but the Directors at the Sailing Club at Shotwick have agreed to let those members that wish to take part to raise money for the charity as part of our annual Open Day on 15th June.
I'll update this page when I have more details and once I have heard from my fellow windsurfers who are associated with the Club, but it would be great if you felt that this was a cause that you would like to support.
Mum loved outdoorsy things - and had loved kayaking and canoeing in Wales and on Coniston when she was at College. I feel a sense of continuity of her PE-teaching days when I teach windsurfing at the Lake and so would like to take part in this event in memory of her.
