Running the London Marathon has been on my bucket list for several years now and I’m proud to be able to take part this year and run on behalf of the One Cause charity who do great work in bringing education to those who need it most as an answer to poverty. I’ve been an amateur runner for approaching two decades now. It’s something I’ve always relied on as a pressure release for all of life’s stresses (and having 3 young children - including 3-year old twin boys - means I have my fair share!), although I’ve never done anywhere near marathon distance before. 

So I’m very excited to have the opportunity to be running the London marathon this year and I’m now more than halfway through my training plan. It’s been tougher than I expected. 5am starts in the dark to squeeze in the long runs, intervals in the torrential rain, a plethora of strengthening exercises from my overburdened physio…as well as the stuff that wasn’t in my training plan - like recovering from clownish falls over loose paving stones, dodging cars that haven’t seen me running over zebra crossings, and worst of all…dealing with extreme chafing. 

Fingers crossed I’ll make it to marathon day on 23rd April 2023 uninjured and in one piece where I’m aiming to finish in anywhere between 3hrs 30 and 4hrs. I should be very grateful to anyone who is willing to sponsor me (no matter how much!) and support the One Cause charity in the process.
