Less than 1 week to go!

This weekend I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer. This is my first marathon, so things could be interesting... Any donations are hugely appreciated and will be going towards a truly fantastic charity.

In particular, I will be running in memory of Maisie Wood. I recently met Ben, Maisie’s Dad, and he told me of Maisie’s story and her bravery throughout her fight with cancer. Ben spoke of Maisie’s positivity, even in the darkest and most cruel of times, and how she battled with a smile on her face continuing to bring happiness to those around her.

Young Lives vs Cancer supports families in so many ways, one being that it runs 11 vital Homes from Home across the UK. Thanks to your donations, families have a free place to stay when their child is going through cancer treatment. Each one is close to a principal treatment centre, reducing the financial burdens of travel, accommodation and food costs for families. Because of you, young cancer patients can be close to their loved ones when they're going through such a difficult and scary time.

Ben told me that staying at one of these homes made a huge difference to him, not having to travel to and from Oxford every day, being able to still work remotely part-time, and being able to spend as much time as possible with Maisie and to support Julie, Maisie’s Mum, who stayed at the hospital throughout the months of treatment.
