Bliss Dads' Challenge 17 - 19 June 2011 · 17 June 2011
Well I did it. 2 Days of trekking. 17 Miles on saturday 10/09/2011 and 11 Miles on Sunday plus an Absail. Great fun, and challenging. Thanks to everyone for donating. I am now looking for my next Challenge watch this space.
Due to circumstances beyond my controll Bliss have had to cancel the Fathers Day challenge.
The good thing is that I am signed up to the same event taking place on 9th and 10th of September, Same challenge different day. All donations are still valid.
On the 9th-10th I'll be doing the Bliss challenge in support of bliss. I along with others supporting Bliss will be attempting the following. This is an official Bliss Fundraising Challenge.
A full and energetic weekend of trekking, followed by an adrenaline pumping abseil in the heart of The English Peak District—tackling sections of England’s famous High Peak Trail, The Limestone Way and the Midshires Way! We shall trek from Buxton to our stunning abseil location of Black Rock,
I'll be doing this in memory of my son Luke,
One in eight babies is born premature or sick – that's 82,000 babies every year. Around 20,000 of these babies need intensive care and the figure is rising. Every six minutes in the UK, a new born baby requires urgent specialist care. Every 2 minutes, a newborn baby requires life-saving intensive care.
Bliss is the only UK charity that helps care for premature and sick babies. We are dedicated to ensuring that more babies not only survive but also go on to have the best possible quality of life. We support families, fund cutting-edge research and campaign for improved hospital resources.
Route Details
This promises to be one full on weekend—which will begin with the stunning limestone peaks of Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill—and will then see us joining the High Peak Trail—which is an easily navigable trail that will take us well on our way to Matlock. Our expected distance for this day is just shy of 20 miles—a good haul indeed!
On Sunday we shall continue from the village of
Brassington—and complete a further 6 miles of walking before we reach the stunning location of Black Rock—the location of our Abseil for the Grand Finale of this challenge.
