*************************Final Update*******************************

What an amazing effort! - from you guys not me. Thanks for all your generous sponsorship, Sue Sollis rang me to say how much she appreciates the effort and assures me it will go along way to help.

I finished the marathon in 3hrs 47mins which I'm delighted with. The half way mark was difficult as I was already feeling tired but a drink and some jelly babies stood me in good stead for the rest of the race. 17, 20 and 22 were all landmarks for me various reasons each getting harder and then it was a case of taking each mile at a time.

Splits etc. can be found by entering my run number, 19241, at:

Thanks again.

*************************Friday - 2 days to go*******************************

Thanks again to everyone that's donated - off to London tonight. Report to follow on my return!

*************************10 days to go!*******************************

You're all amazing - thanks very much for your support!

I'm trying to keep up my end of the bargain but I've been hit with some bad luck. Unfortunately the calf niggle referred to below needed physio; that meant 4 weeks out :o(  That was then followed by a horrible cold which took me down for another week. So I was out for 5 weeks just as I should have been peaking. Not much can be done now though and I'm back on the road just trying to get fitness and stamina levels up,  however with less than 2 weeks to go it looks like I'll not be able to achieve the time I was hoping for. Nonetheless I will be running and I'm confident I'll complete it.

*************************March Update*******************************

*************************March Update*******************************

Thank you all very much for your generous donations so far - hitting my original target a month before the marathon is great! But now's the time to push on, it's a really good cause and the more the better so please continue to sponsor :o)

Training wise I've had a week or so off after the Great North West Half Marathon (1 second under my 90min target!!!) due to a bit of a niggle on my calf but I was well on track before and it shouldn't get in the way too much. I'm now concentrating on ramping up the time on the road - last few weeks before the big day

Thanks to you all again

Mike

********************************************************************

Hello,

After several years of trying I've finally managed to get myself a place in this years London Marathon.

You can think of your sponsorship in two ways - a donation to a very worthy charity and my running has brought it to you attention or paying to see me running around Whitehaven (or wherever else I'll be running) in the freezing cold for mile after mile in dayglow yellow and or lycra

Please dig deep and sponsor me online or just hand me some cash next time you see me!!! (best tell me it's sponsorship and not beer tokens though).

If you've not sponsored through Just Giving before it is simple, fast and totally secure; it is also the most efficient way to sponsor me (i.e. I don't have to pester you for money). Furthermore the Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust will also receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
