My dad was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in November 2016; he fought bravely but lost his battle in July 2017, aged 66. Watching the suffering of the man who was always the life and soul of the party, always the one running around after everyone else, was the most heartbreaking experience of my life. He was a true gentleman, my superhero, and he worked hard his whole life for his familiy, only to get a year of retirement when he deserved so many more. Mesothelioma is an aggressive cancer caused by contact with Asbestos- a cancer he was exposed to by just going to work to provide for his family. A cancer that should never have happened because the affects of Asbestos were known yet still used in industry. This cancer is hugely underfunded and lack of research means that a diagnosis is terminal. There are so many hard working men and women who may have been exposed to this in their workplace and it is still everywhere... even in schools! The fibres can be inhaled by family members who come into contact with clothes. 

I hope to raise money to help the families of those suffering and to aid research so that one day there may be a cure. Thanks for reading my dad’s story x
