Event: The Yukon Grand Challenge, from 3 September 2015 to 22 September 2015
We support young people to give them a great start into work

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page I really appreciate the support.

In September 2015 I will be part of a team of individuals kayaking down the Yukon in Alaska to raise money for the EY Foundation* & Pilgrim Bandits**. The challenge involves 490 miles of the Yukon, navigating the waters for most hours of the day, camping at night with extreme temperature drops, grizzly & black bears as well as physical and mental exhaustion. This will be a gruelling challenge and unlike anything I have ever taken on. At this point I should also mention - I have only kayaked once in my life.

The reason why I have committed to this challenge and what's great about it is that both charities share a common goal to equip individuals with confidence, new skills and the opportunity to fulfill their potential.

With your help, we can make this possible. Please support me in this good cause.

* The EY Foundation is a wonderful new charity, helping to change the lives of disadvantaged young people as they make a successful transition into work, higher education or self-employment. Because the EY Foundation is a not-for-profit UK charity, every pound you give goes straight into supporting one of their pioneering charitable programs. The EY Foundation recognises the aspirations of young people and entrepreneurs in society today and is committed to providing them with a voice. Adam, Smart Futures program alumnus, says “We came onto the program as kids with an interest to learn. Yet we left as young adults, with experiences that will help mold our lives in the future.”

** Pilgrim Bandits – This extraordinary charity was established by a small group of Special Forces veterans with the sole aim of using their unique training and experience to help and inspire wounded soldiers to live life to the full. The mantra ‘Always a Little Further’ is core to their attitude, whether working with amputee men and women from the services directly or by utilizing their experiences to inspire and encourage young people and children. The charity provide the toughest of physical challenges through intensely demanding expeditions and share these experiences with young people from underprivileged backgrounds.
