Story
Dear Friend
Thank you for allocating the time to visit my fundraising page. I still need your help!
The Sea to Sea Challenge has happened between 11th and 19th October as a fundraiser for The Apostleship of the Sea. We successfully treked fore 100 kms (approximately) from the Mediterranean Sea to the Sea of Galilee in Israel. The walked took us over a variety of differing terrains, from the forest walk to the steep sides of a Wadi and up 1 in 3 hillside to the Church of the Transfiguration, in 5 days with a climb to 1208m on the second day. Training went well, here on the West Coast of Scotland but more should have been done!
It has been a great, if taxing and exhausting experience but well worthwhile. I am extremely greatful to all who have sponsored me so far but I still need a further £500 to reach my target. Don't give up yet.
I commend the charity to you wholeheartedly as it supports the practical and pastoral needs of the many seafarers that visit our shores each year. There are some 150,000 ships docking in the UK each year bringing with them 95% of the imported goods we need to keep pace with demand. Some of the sailors have not been home for a12 month. The wages of many are low and the conditions are sometimes very basic. Not all ships are Cruise Liners! To learn more about the charity I suggest you visit their web site at www.apostleshipofthesea.org.uk There are more details about the Sea to Sea Challenge on the site.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Apostleship Of The Sea gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your splendid support.
Kind regards and Fraternally
Michael Hawke
