Story

"Hello everyone who is reading this post I have just shaved my Mum's hair off! I will show you the video but first please donate so I can reach the goal of £1,000 to the hospital/cancer treatment staff who saved my Mum's life. This will mean a lot to me. Thank you!"

Luke-Keston in his own words wrote the introduction to this Page and decided on the amount he wanted to raise.

The idea of this page is two-fold.

Firstly, as a Mum telling your child you have cancer is something no Mum would ever want to tell their child. Immediately upon hearing 'the Big C' word they think of death and losing their Mum. Once the chemotherapy kicks in, there's no hiding it... I didn't want Luke to be scared of me as I lose my hair, or be scared as he watched me endure the nasty side-effects of the chemotherapy. I wanted to make him part of it and turn the sadness of cancer around to make it fun for him, so I thought of the rebellious idea as a child of shaving your Mum's hair off!!

Within a second your world changes, 1 in 2 of us will experience this disease. Cancer strips you of everything. Breast Cancer not only gives you the battle of fighting for your life, but it also strips you completely of being a woman and no matter what you do there's nothing in the world that can change it or you can do about it. I'm fighting back!

The second reason for this page, I wanted to give something back to the Empress Unit at the Darent Valley Hospital to help them raise money for any further equipment they need/extend the unit. All of the staff have been truly amazing to me, without them, their care and their expertise I cannot imagine where I would be.

I was so ignorant to the world of Breast Cancer. I have seen the Unit busting at the seams with women all going through an equally as tough journey as I am on. No-one can tell you how tough it is and no-one can prepare you. Even the initial tests you have to endure of biopsies are tough, that's before your journey even starts. The shock of being told you've got cancer, the surgeries, the complications associated with such major surgery, the recovery, your body is stripped of strength and it takes over your whole life - even to lift my head off of the pillow some days has been too much for me. That's all before the chemotherapy... I am now on that nasty part of the journey. Please help me to give something back to the Unit. I want to help make the Breast Cancer Journey become as painless as possible and as bearable as possible for all of the other women out there who sadly are going to go through this or who are already going through this.

All monies raised will go to my most amazing consultant Miss Seetharam and her Team at the Empress Unit. They will allocate the funds to help the Unit.
