We're helping Plymouth Hospitals Charity and the Children's Happy Hospital Fund to decorate the new Children's Emergency Department extension that is being built at Derriford Hospital!

I am swimming 1km dressed as a unicorn at the Everyone Active Life Centre 50m swimming pool in Plymouth, who have kindly supported this event by providing me with a personal rainbow race lane, on 22 June to raise funds to make the new Emergency Department area fun and friendly!

It can be such a scary time for a child to come to hospital with an injury, especially when everything looks so different from your normal life, so let's make the space more child-friendly. The staff and charities want to create a calm ocean space, where children will meet characters like Conrad the Clownfish and Poppy the Pufferfish, helping to draw them into an under-sea adventure rather than worrying about being in a hospital.

The extension will be wonderful, delivering 40 new seats, four new treatment rooms, a privacy room and lots more! With the decoration of the space included it will be so much easier for worried parents and children!
