The Yateley Hockey Club I joined, was very much a small, local, 'grass roots' club and as time has gone by it has become more and more successful, now running 5 Men's and 4 Ladies side and youth sides ranging from Under 8 through to Under 18.

Over the 20 years or so since I joined it has been an ever present part of my life (Darrin will vouch for this!!). We recently found out that this Summer we will be losing our home pitch due to it being relayed with a non hockey friendly surface. It's the only astroturf pitch in Yateley and as a result for the first time the future of Yateley Hockey Club is at risk, and the opportunity for all ages and abilities to get involved in a true family sport is at risk.

However, not ones for being easily defeated we have embarked on a project to raise money and build our very own pitch.

Yateley HC has given me so much to be thankful for including huge support and friendship during the tough time when my mum was ill and am doing my bit (all 226 miles of it) in return.

I want to ensure the future of this Club so my little boy, his friends and future generations have the same opportunities as me. So any donations, big or small are very gratefully received...Thank you! xx
