Story
All children need support from time to time.
Perhaps they have suffered a bereavement or other personal trauma or perhaps they have a diagnosis of a condition that affects their learning or ability to cope in the school environment. At Carrickfergus Model Primary School, we want to remove barriers to learning and happiness and we believe that a full-time therapy dog would help us with that goal.
Animal Assisted Therapy is simply more than spending time with an animal. It involves specific therapeutic goals and strategies to assist with fine motor skills, improved balance, increased focus and attention, increased self-esteem and confidence, reduced anxiety and grief, increased trust and empathy and increased social skills.
A therapy dog would become a full-time member of our school family!
So, please sponsor our teams as they make a marathon effort to support the pupils of Carrickfergus Model Primary School.
