Lost Souls Sanctuary is a place for dogs with nowhere to go; dogs that have been through the rescue mill and returned too traumatised to go through it again, dogs that have suffered abuse or neglect and have no trust left in human beings, dogs with behaviour problems deemed unsuitable for rehoming.

I set up this page as when I first heard about Lost Souls Sanctuary I was blown away by how one lady could set up a place that offered  a forever home to dogs that had  ran out of chances. I knew when she took Annie (aka Audrey :) ) that this was one special lady. This was confirmed when I contacted her a couple of weeks ago to see if she could help Max who was booked to be pts as his owners had exhausted all other possibilities for him. Within a few hours of asking her for help she had contacted Max's owner and offered to take him. This just giving page is my way of saying thank you to all at Lost Souls Sanctuary for all the dogs you have saved and to help Henry who deserves the opportunity to be running around causing mayhem like all puppies do!

Henry's Story

Henry arrived on January 16th at just 10 weeks old.

Henry was born a healthy happy puppy, with no disabilities what so ever. Then one morning they woke to find Henry struggling to walk - within hours he was completely paralysed.

His owner contacted the breeder, who took Henry to his own vet, the prognosis for Henry was not known, neither was the reason behind the paralysis - the vet advised PTS.

Anne heard about this and knew she had to give Henry a chance - she had to fight his corner for him, and so she drove a 500 mile round trip to collect him.

Henry was immediately taken to the sanctuary's vet who referred  him to see a specialist Neurologist who diagnosed Henry with Botulism or polyradiculoneuritis- (both show the same symptoms and result in almost instant paralysis.)

Henry has seen specialists all over the country, and to date nothing has worked to get him up on all 4 legs - he has however regained total bowel control and can move his limbs - the problem now is that his back leg muscles have fibrosised, meaning although technically his legs work - the muscles prevent the joints from moving.

Every vet so far has said they would recommend Euthanasia - Henry is not in any pain, Henry lives a very fulfilled life where he plays with other dogs and loves life! Henry is a happy pup who takes life head on - he should not loose his life just because they don't know how to 'fix' him.

Anne has decided, with the help and advice from a lady in America (who was in a very similar situation to Anne and who got her puppy up and walking again) to try and help Henry in less conventional ways - massage and laser therapy, dietry supplements and hydrotherapy.

A hydrotherapy pool would not only help Henry, but there are other dogs with Hip Displacia and CDRM who's life would be massively transformed with a hydro pool.
