As most of you already know,tomorrow I will be attempting to run the Belfast Marathon.  Now, for most athletic people this is quite a challenge but for a couch potato like myself this is a life threatening decision!  The training has been long and tough and I have complained as loudly as possible to anyone who is willing to listen about my aching muscles and gammy knee but hopefully on 3rd May all my hard work will pay off and I will finish the marathon in an upright position, rather than crawling to the finish line (which is a very real possibility).

The reason for punishing my body and pounding my poor joints for hours at a time is to raise money for Heartbeat Ni, a voluntary parent-led charity who support Clark clinic-the Heart department at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.  Jasmine, my beautiful daughter spent 3 weeks here when she was only 6 months old after having open heart surgery to reimplant her coronary artery.  No words can describe the horror of thinking you may lose your baby and those weeks were the toughest of my life, but because of the expertise of the surgeon and doctors and the dedication of the staff, Jasmine is still here and growing stronger every day.  She is such an amazing little girl and she has inspired me in so many ways so I wanted to give something back to the people who saved her life.

Heartbeat are currently working to raise money for an MRI Scanner for the hospital and all donations will contribute towards this.  In times of such economic crisis, I realise people dont have alot of extra cash but this is such a worthy cause and even a small donation will help to make the aim of getting the scanner more achievable.  I really appreciate all your support with this.
