Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I have decided to take on this challenge in the hope of conquering a fear from childhood when I found myself hanging from a tower during a girl guiding camp whilst completing my abseiling badge!! I needed to be rescued by three of the volunteers, who kindly supported me step by step down a ladder, so my feet were firmly on the ground!!! I I never did pass my badge and the Calshot climbing wall with my sister is about as far as I have got in beating my fear.
My second reason is in memory of my beautiful sister who feared nothing and could never understand why I didn't enjoy climbing to great heights as she frequently did conquering many mountains all over the world despite spending many years fighting an aggressive brain tumour which eventually took her life six years ago at the age of 37.I thought it was finally time to put aside my fears and raise some money and just as important, awareness of this fantastic charity and what it achieves.
Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer... yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
